Offshore & Onshore Services Exmouth
Support Vessels for Oceanographic, Hydrographic and Geophysical Surveys
GMS vessels are equipped to carry out offshore oceanographic, hydrographic and geophysical surveys. We have installed moon-pools in two of our vessels (Calypso and Warrego) for this specific purpose. GMS has provided these services for Federal Government authorities (Bureau of Meteorology, Australian Institute of Marine Science), State government departments (Department of Transport), and the oil and gas Industry. Together with Australia’s foremost oceanographers and marine surveyors, GMS has provided services on a wide range of projects for Fugro, BHP Billiton, Woodside Energy, Shell, Neptune, Santos, DOF Subsea and Inpex.
Environmental Investigations
Environmental investigations have included support of intertidal, shallow and deep water studies. We have provided most of the vessels used to conduct environmental investigations for the Gorgon Downstream Project, from the initial work required for the Environmental Impact Study, to the extended baseline, through two years of dredge impact monitoring, and the Post Dredging Studies. We have also supported the conduct of environmental studies for Quadrant, Chevron, Woodside, ConocoPhillips and BHPBP over a number of their projects. Our long history of providing environmental support has ensured our personnel have a deep understanding of the environmental issues associated with the industry, including pollution prevention, waste handling, conservation, marine fauna observation, marine pests and quarantine.
Cargo, Personnel, Supplies and Equipment Transfer
GMS offers personnel and equipment transfer services to the offshore industry, including vessel-to-vessel and vessel-to-platform crew change, sea freight transfer, emergency evacuation, refueling, ‘hotshot’ transfer and chase boat duties. We have prepared the 18m twin water-jet powered Ocean Spirit as a high speed (25 knot) passenger transport vessel, with assignments on the Macedon and Gorgon Projects.
Dive Support
GMS’ range of diver project experience includes support of in-water vessel hull inspections, environmental studies, salvage operations, emergency repair and de-fouling works. We have had full dive spreads, including decompression chambers, installed on our vessels for periods ranging from a few days, to three years.
Exmouth Facilities and Onshore Logistics
GMS has developed extensive facilities in our Exmouth base. This includes a large yard with warehouse, workshop, offices, a fleet of utilities, 8T truck and forklift. Our Marine Operations Office looks after all logistics, including receivables, consignment of freight, quarantine assessment, lay down areas, re-provisioning, client pick-up and transport. Our dedicated HSE Advisor and Marine Operations Office work together to ensure that all operations conform to the highest of safety measures.
